Isocraft 0.1.1: The Playability Update

A major stability and playability pass for survival, building, interiors, caves, targeting, controls, and renderer compatibility.

Room and cave reveal

  • ~Reworked room detection for open-front builds, partial walls, skylights, cave mouths, and irregular spaces.
  • OKDoors, fence gates, and trapdoors now separate room transitions instead of letting scans spill through a structure.
  • ~Large caves stay local to the player instead of exposing an entire connected cave network or letting distant daylight open everything.
  • OKImproved cave boundaries and edge coverage to reduce black wedges, missing terrain, foreground walls, and accidental x-ray-like openings.
  • OKNearby steps, walkable terrain, and the next downhill landing remain visible while navigating.
  • OKFixed many cases where the player, mobs, beds, chests, crops, or foliage disappeared with the cutaway.
  • ~Reduced unnecessary chunk rebuilds during fast travel, rotation, zooming, and settled play.

Camera and controls

  • ~Camera rotation is now continuous. Hold comma or period to rotate smoothly, then release at any angle.
  • OKRotation hitches are capped instead of replaying delayed input later, and zoom input is more responsive.
  • Removed automatic terrain collision zoom so the camera keeps the distance selected by the player.
  • +Added an optional Movement Facing mode that follows travel direction and returns to cursor aim during actions.
  • ~The isometric toggle now defaults to F8. Left Alt targets above the player, while Left Alt plus Shift targets below.

Cursor and combat

  • +Added a small depth-aware cursor aperture to make block and mob edges easier to select.
  • OKInteraction rays now ignore unreachable camera-side foreground geometry that masked nearby blocks.
  • OKMining crops, bamboo, and other partial blocks stays latched to the intended block.
  • OKInvisible and marker armour stands no longer steal the cursor on servers.
  • ~Charged and charging crossbows now use the same lock and aim trace as bows.

Interface

  • OKWalking away from an open container now closes it safely on the next tick.
  • +Container windows can be scaled independently from the rest of the interface from 35 percent to 200 percent.
  • OKCompact settings layouts keep every option, preset, and the Done button reachable.
  • +Added a bindable ten-second Diorama GIF capture, bound to F7 by default.

Renderer compatibility

  • +Added renderer-specific vanilla, Sodium, and Iris reveal paths with safer rebuild, visibility, reset, and fail-open handling.
  • OKImproved player, entity, and block entity visibility and protected Iris shadow passes from the normal cutaway.
  • OKAdded safeguards for the reported Mellow transparency issue and stopped crop and bamboo geometry from being treated like canopy foliage.

Known rough edges

  • ~Vanilla rendering is the recommended experience for this release. Sodium and Iris support remains rougher and is still being improved.
  • ~Floor Aware remains an unfinished experimental preview and can fall back to ordinary Rooms behavior.
